Having obtained a Master’s degree in English at Oxford, Vincent started as a translator and research executive at System 3 International.  He moved from there to head the Economics and Statistics Department of the British Radio and Electronic Equipment Manufacturers Association and then on to GfK, working for their foreign co-ordination department in Nuremberg and setting up retail panels in the UK.  He continued on to Mars where he was Client Services Manager of their external retail audit.

In early 1987 he moved to THE DECISION SHOP, a branding consultancy owned by the Bates advertising agency, where he was International Research Director, concentrating on strategic planning and branding consultancy in a wide range of markets and countries.  He worked on branding issues in a variety of markets across the world including working with major multinationals including Esso, Shell, Benckiser, UDV, Electrolux, Mars and Reckitt and Coleman.  He also worked as a long-term consultant with a number of clients such as Pharmacia & Upjohn and Perstorp in Sweden, TV2 in Norway and Brio worldwide.  He was a regular speaker at marketing conferences and organised and led training sessions in various countries.  He was also involved in developing structured segmentation tools for South African Breweries in Hungary and TV2 in Norway and in the development of the market for functional foods in the UK as well as helping to pioneer tools to evaluate likely sales success of brand relaunches/extensions.

In Autumn 2003, Vincent set up OBICO, a small consultancy designed to develop and apply pragmatic, research-based solutions to marketing problems.  OBICO’s current clients include IKEA, Rieber Foods, Cardo Doors, Delsey and Ferring Pharmaceutical.  Vincent still speaks at a lot of conferences and lectures to university students.
